NilePost news editor Edris Kiggundu, NBS TV reporters Zahara Namuli and Elijah Turyagumanawe are some of the popular names that have led the list of 30 staff members fires by Next Media Group leaving all them jobless before the year even ends.
This in what is described as "realignment and restructuring of the media empire" that has forced Next Media group, which runs NBS TV, Sanyuka TV, Sanyuka Prime, The Nilepost online newspaper and Salaam TV to fire 30 of its long serving employees.
The company announced that after a lengthy deliberation and consideration on the process, 'The Management and Board of Next Media' had to have some Transformers step down from their roles with effect Wednesday, 30th, November 2022.
"Following the conclusion of our Group CEO's engagements across the Group on how best we can realign Next Media digital strategy to the global digital agenda as demanded by the ongoing digital global technological advancements, the Group has, over this week, undertaken a restructuring process to serve our audiences more effectively," read a statement from the media entity on Wednesday.

Several staff members like Nilepost neespaper editor Edris Kiggundu, NBS Health reporter Zahara Namuli as well as investigative journalist and reporter Elijah Turyagumanawe are some of the victims of the sack amongst the 30 employees and have already made their way out known to the public.
Earlier today, Nation Media Group too announced plans to layoff more staff due to the harsh economic times that media groups have been struggling in since the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic.
This led to a severe cut in the advertising revenues as corporate institutions and government bodies faced a financial squeeze.
