Wakiso Giants FC Condemns SC Villa to First Season Loss

Wakiso Giants FC scored three goals in the space of fifteen minutes to condemn record league champions SC Villa to a first loss of the season in the match that ended 3:1 in favor of 'The Purple Sharks' at Kavumba Recreation Grounds.

Former Masaza boy Titus Ssematimba gave Wakiso Giants FC the lead with only nine minutes off the clock, Moses Aliro scored the club's second and Ssematimba completed his brace in the 24th minute to ensure a 3:0 lead for Wakiso Giants in less than half an hour.

SC Villa pulled a consolation through Umar Mutyaba. Following a foul on Travis Mutyaba by Wakiso Giants' Fahad Kawooya, Umar Lutalo took the resultant penalty but had to score from a rebound after the penalty was saved.

The win lifts Wakiso Giants FC to fourth position with nine points but with an inferior goal difference to displace Bul FC from third position who they are level on points.

On the other side however, SC Villa dropped to to 14th position after the loss left them on 3 points but with a -1 goal difference and thus exchanged the position with Busoga United who climbed from relegation to the 13th position.

SC Villa who were playing in their second match of the season despite being a match day five have now won as many matches as lost (1) and scored only two goals in two matches following a 1:0 win over Police FC in their season opener.

Action resumes on Friday 5th November,2021 with Busoga United visiting Tooro United at Buhinga Stadium, Fort Portal whereas UPDF FC will host Mbarara City at Bombo Military Barracks Grounds the next day.
