Uganda Finishes 5th At CECAFA U-23 Championship

Uganda has ended it's campaign in Ethiopia today Wednesday 28th July with a 2:1 win against Eritrea, a win that saw the Uganda Kobs finish fifth at the tournament.

Eritrea on the other hand finished 6th. Uganda got the edge in the 31st minute courtesy of a Yiga Najib strike before URA's Steven Mukwala doubled the lead with 11 minutes to play.

Eritrea's consolation was scored by Yonatan Teketse at the stroke of full time.

In the other classification match played on the day, Ethiopia beat DR Congo 2:1 and the two sides finished 7th and 8th respectively in the eight team tournament.

Tanzania who topped Uganda's group, A, will play in the finals against Burundi after they beat South Sudan 1:0.

Burundi beat Kenya 4:2 in post match penalties after normal time had ended goalless.

South Sudan and Kenya will play in the third place play offs to determine who finishes third and fourth whereas Tanzania and Burundi face off in the finals with both matches scheduled for Friday 39th July,2021.
