Uganda Revenue Authority Football Club have announced the signing of defender Simon Baligeya on a deal that will see him collect tax until 2024.

Baligeya becomes the first signing for the tax collectors as they intensify preparations for the new season and CAF Confederations Cup.

Baligeya is one of the historical Uganda U-20 squad members who made it to the U-20 Africa Cup of Nations that was eventually won by Ghana early this year.

Upon signing for the Sam Ssimbwa coached side, Simon had this to say..

“I am very happy to be here, it’s honestly not that easy. Over the years, people have been accustomed to the mentality that URA only fancies experienced (old) players. My move here has proved otherwise and I believe it is going to be exemplary and encouraging for other younger players.”

“I intend to utilize the experience of the players here to improve myself. and I am ready to learn from each one of them. My plan is to work hard, and pray that my chance comes so I can utilize it to showcase my capabilities,” he added while talking to club website.

Baligeya has went through all ranks, he played at the Copa Coca Cola Post Primary Competition in 2015/2016 with Standard High School Zana, joined Bulo Parents in 2017/2018 before lately featuring for Kibulib SS in season 2019/2020.

He was also part of the U-17 Uganda squad that retained the U-17 CECAFA championship in 2020 in Gulu City
