CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup: Uganda Kobs Draw Their First Match

Uganda U-23 national team has drawn its first match at the on going tournament of the CECAFA U-23 Challenge Cup in Ethiopia.

Uganda had a match of limited chances one of which when Bobosi Byaruhanga's corner was cleared by DR Congo defender. Dr Congo are at the tournament as invited guests.

Head coach Morley Bwekwaso was forced to bring on Bright Anukani for injured Steven Sserwadda in the 38th to help press for a goal but still half time ended goalless.

After an hour played at the Bahir Dar Stadium in Ethiopia, Morley Bwekwaso made a double substitution taking off Steven Mukwala and Derrick Kakooza to bring on Sam Ssenyonjo and Yiga Najib respectively.

Another double substitution for Uganda came later after seventy minutes of play when Julius Poloto and Karim Watambala paved way for Abdallah Salim and Sadam Masereka but still didn't yield goals for the Uganda Kobs.

Uganda is pooled in group A with guests Democratic Republic of Congo and Tanzania.

Uganda has a whole week to correct it's mistakes as they play their last match of the group on Sunday 25th July,2021 needing a win to guarantee progress to quarter finals.
