All You Missed During FUFA Media Engagement Held at Jevine Hotel, Rubaga

The football governing body of Uganda has on Tuesday 6th April, 2021 held a successful engagement with the members of the fourth estate, the media at Jevine Hotel, Rubaga.

The meeting which was also attended by first vice president Justus Mugisha, FUFA Deputy CEO – Football Decolas Kiiza, Esther Musoke (Director of Marketing), Patrick Ntege (National teams’ officer) and Ahmed Hussein (Director of Communications) intended to address the state of the sport (football) and to show the way forward for the success of the beautiful game.

In his submissions, Eng. Moses Magogo had this to assert;

‘We thought it was very important to have an engagement with the media. We are open-minded. Since 2013, the game of football was still in recovery.


By the time we came into administration, the game had moved to the point of take-off. For instance in 2013, there were only 8 employees of FUFA. Today, there are 60 employees. The national teams have improved a lot. There is a lot of improvement on quality of the human resource, communication and governance issues.

The financial resources have increased from Shs 4 billion to over Shs 40 billion now. There is improved relationships with Government. No existing administration can operate without the Government.

We need Government, there is a lot that we need from Government; CAF and FIFA, Uganda Olympic Committee, National Council of Sports (NCS), media and everybody working for the well of football. Football needs an environment to develop.’ Eng. Moses Magogo ascertained..

Looking at more development of the sport, Magogo continued;

'Looking at the future. We must engage a new gear. We shall unveil a new project which we have named, the TECHNICAL AGENDA OF FUFA. At an opportune time, we shall give the details.'

This is intended at building another football generation that will compete competently in the years to come, admitting that each and every regime gets to an end.

Also in attendance for the media side were Radio Four journalist Yusuf Baliruno, Kawowo Sports’ David Isabirye, BBS' Francisco Bwambale,Shafiq Kiyaga of Football 256 Media, Shabana Lubega of Sports Nation Media, Eria Ssenyondwa of Top Television.

Decolas Kiiza, the Deputy CEO-Football, also hinted at opening the other leagues still under closure.

We are engaging Government on how best the rest of the other leagues will return after the Star Times Uganda Premier League and Star Times FUFA Big League. FUFA has met the costs for the COVID-19 of players, officials and referees. Soon, we shall have the national beach soccer league, FUFA Women and Elite Super Leagues. The other leagues will also return systematically’ He hinted.
