The opening match for the Uganda Cubs (U-17) against South Sudan scheduled for Saturday 12th December at midday has been called off after the latter was disqualified having had four of their players fail to pass the MRI tests.
Magnetic Resonance Imaging tests are always taken to confirm the legibility of players to participate in a given tournament and the failure by the Sudanese to comply with ages as required by the organisers, they were disqualified.
South Sudan's disqualification means Uganda Cubs will bag maximum points and also wait for their first match to defend the tournament on Tuesday 15th December against Kenya before taking on Ethiopia three days later (Friday 18th December,2020). The last time they mate, Uganda beat South Sudan 6:1.
The tournament now has only six teams which include, Djibouti, Tanzania and Rwanda that will play in group B.
Two top sides from each group will play the semi finals with the champions and runners up representing the CECAFA region in the AFCON U-17 tournament next year.
