In the FUFA Big League promotional playoffs played on Monday 19th October, 2020, Kitara and Kiboga Young have won tickets for the finals in which the eventual winners will join already promoted sides UPDF who won Rwenzori group and Elgon group winners Malaba Youths Development Association (MYDA FC).
In the first play-offs, Kitara outmaneuvered Kataka FC in a tense penalty shootouts (7-6) after a barren full time score.
Denis Monday, Phillip Sempira, Samuel Adibo, Patrick Mugume, Musa Docca, skipper Maxwell Owachgiu and Dan Ekoyu converted their spot kicks for Kitara as goalkeeper Jamil Kiyimba was the hero, saving two penalties.
In the late promotional play-offs, Kiboga Young emerged victors when they outmaneuvered former Uganda Premier League entity Ndejje University in a four goal wrought.
Kiboga Young had to come a goal down when Sulaiman Tumusiime handed the students the lead in 35 minutes but Kiboga Young gathered momentum to beat Ndejje University 3-1 by full time at the closed doors of FUFA Technical Center in Njeru.
It presents a great opportunity for the Richard Makumbi coached Kiboga Young as the gaffer boasts of the record for having brought the most number of teams from Big League to the top tier, the Star Times Uganda Premier League.
The day's two victors will now face off the promotional decider that will see the victor join MYDA FC and UPDF F as the promoted sides to the Star Times Uganda Premier League for the season 2020/2021.
