Masaza Cup Update: Four Pitches to be Inspected by FUFA Ahead of 2020 Tournament

The COVID-19 pandemic has left many activities at a standstill and sports has fallen victim of the disease that has traumatized the globe.

In a bid for the Masaza Cup tournament 2020 to start, the Masaza organizing committee headed by Hajji Sulaiman Ssejjengo also the Mayor Ndejje University has selected four un identified play grounds and forwarded them to FUFA for inspection as a way forward to the start of the sixteenth edition of the most watched football tournament in Uganda.

Speaking to Blizz Uganda, the chairman of Masaza cup organizing committee asserted that the pitches will be inspected by FUFA to see if they are up to the required standards as by the Ministry of Health.

He continues to give that in case FUFA grants the playgrounds to host matches, the next step will be drafting of fixtures and the tournament will kick off as soon as in November.

The 2020 tournament was initially meant to kick off in June as it is always the case but due to the lock down caused by COVID-19 pandemic, kick was delayed.

It should also be noted that this year's tournament will be on a single leg basis with no return legs and hence the single leg winners will progress to the next level.
