In the 7th annual meeting of FUFA held at Ridar Hotel, Seeta in Mukono on Saturday 26th September, 2020, the kick off date for the new Uganda Premier League (UPL) season 2020/2021 was changed.
The new season was initially meant to kick off on 17th October, 2020 but in the meeting, it was decided that the competition will wait for at least 30 more days.
In the most recent President's address, H.E allowed football to resume given the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) are followed, chief amongst them is football behind closed doors.
However, despite the development, mystery still surrounds the kick off of the season as it is a real fate making COVID-19 tests every after 14 days. Each test costs close to 250,000/- which is salary to some UPL players.
Without fans on the pitch and given the financial implications caused by the pandemic, one should not be taken by surprise if the league doesn't kick off even on the postponed date in November, 2020.
