Mwanga II Court, Grade II Magistrate Timothy Lumunye has on Thursday 16th remanded Pastor Augustine Yiga of Revival Christian Church Kawaala back at Kitalya Government prison in Mityana district until 5th May when further directives from the head of state regarding the current nationwide lockdown to prevent the deadly Coronavirus will be issued.

Grade II Magistrate Timothy Lumunye rejected Yiga’s application after the defense lawyers failed to produce evidence of his medical condition as he is alleged of suffering diabetes and given the fact that he lacked credible witnesses, his efforts for bail were subdued.

Pastor Yiga's sureties were junior ministers in his church and accordingly not in position to compel the applicant abide by the condition of the bail.

Yiga, commonly known as 'abizaayo' was arrested last month for uttering false information and spreading harmful propaganda in relation to the deadly coronavirus (Covid-19.
