The Ministry of Health has confirmed more 5 cases of Coronavirus Disease 2019 which was first reported in the country on March 21, 2020. The number of the cases with COVID-19 in Uganda as of March 25, 2020 has soared up to 14 with zero reported death and zero recoveries.

Of the 5 new cases, 3 are Ugandans while 2 are Chinese nationals who were among the 6 Chinese that escaped from the quarantine and went to Zombo District where they were retrieved from. The ministry has therefore said that it will be risky to present these Chinese to court since it will be bringing a risk of further spread.

“As of today, 25 March 2020, there are 5 new confirmed cases for COVID-19 bringing the total number of COVID-19 confirmed cases in the country to 14.” Dr. Mwebesa from the Ministry of Health has said.

2,661 travelers including Ugandans have already been identified by the ministry and 1230 are on follow up, 764 under institutional quarantine while 466 are under self quarantine. The ministry continues to call Ugandans who had recently travelled to Dubai in the last two weeks to show up for medical follow up and currently 574 individuals have been listed.
