Bajjo Events' Case Trial Takes An Unexpected New Twist

Ms Stella Maris Amabilis of the Buganda Road Magistrates Court has on Wednesday 19th freed events manager Andrew Mukasa aka Bajjo who has been trailing with charges of disturbing the peace of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The proprietor of Bajjo Events and Marketing Agency Limited was charged and arrested last year on numerous accounts mention threatening to overthrow President Museveni, incitement of violence and offensive communication that was all intended to annoy the President.

However, the fact that the prosecution side failed to avail the substantial evidence pinning the defendant hence the trial magistrate Ms Stella Maris Amabilis ruled that it would not be proper to keep adjourning the case which was brought before court in June 2019, and where the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP) wasnot sure of when to bring witnesses.

Ms Amabilis concurred with the defence lawyer, Mr Erias Lukwango’s argument that since there is no proof of service of the witnesses which can only be confirmed with an affidavit, court could not be moved to make another adjournment.

"Accordingly, the accused is discharged,” Ms Amabilis stated before ordering that the Shs4m the accused deposited in court as bail be refunded to him.

Prosecution contended that during the month of June at various places in Masaka, Mbarara, Ibanda and Kampala, Mr Mukasa incited members of the public to carry out violent acts against the person of the President.
