The Ugandan Creative Industry especially movie actors, actresses and fanatics is too cold like it has ever been before as their mourn the death of the sensational 15 year old 'Queen of Katwe' movie actress Gloria alias Nikita Pearl Waligwa who succumbed to brain tumour in the wee hours of Sunday 16th February morning.
From being a cancer survivor to a victim, Gloria was first diagnosed with brain tumour way back in 2016 and consequently, had surgery in April 2016.
Shortly after the surgery, Nikita had to undergo radiotherapy in June 2016 after being diagnosed with cancer at Platinum Hospital. She was declared cancer free in February 2017 after a successful surgery and a professional review from the docs in India.
Unlike her mother, Racheal Asiimwe Waligwa who was once a cancer victim but later survived the deadly disease, the cunning and beautiful Nikita couldn't fight for her life as she joined her ancestors and let go her earthly journey.
Following the sad news of Nikita's death that was reported by inside sources from her family, a lot of obituary and condolence messages are till now still flowing in onto social media from celebrities and movie lovers as they mourn a mega talent lost in the local creative industry.
"Gone too soon little actress. If you watched Queen of Katwe you know who she is. She has fone to be with the Lord," Mariam Ndagire.
Nikita acted as Gloria in the movie Queen of Katwe that was directed by Nira Maira and starred among others Hollywood star Lupita Nyong’o, Phillip Luswata and Irene Kulabako Kakembo among others. The movie was widely watched on the international scene and Uganda too.
