Uganda Cranes Beat Burundi 2:1 In a One Sided CECAFA Encounter

Uganda Cranes have opened their quest for a 15th CECAFA trophy with a 2:1 win in an encounter dominated by the home side all way through.

The Cranes scored the first goal through Proline's forward Bright Anukani in the 8th Minute with the second coming from the league's second topscorer (on 9) and Vipers' striker Fahad Bayo in the 21st minute. The Vipers' striker had before given the Cranes the lead but his goal was ruled out for offside.

Burundi's goal was in the 60th minute courtesy of Danny Cedric Rurashenga from the penalty spot after Halid Lwaliwa handled in the forbidden area to reduce the deficit to 2:1.

In the early natch played at the same venue, the Star Times Stadium Lugogo, Somalia drew goalless with Djibouti.

Uganda Cranes' next match will be against Somalia on Monday 9th December, 2019.
