Barcelona and Argentina forward Lionel Messi has for the 6th time been crowned the Ballon d’Or winner 2019 at the Theatre du Chatelet in Paris tonight, defeating the close rivals Virgil Van Dijk from Liverpool who was the second, Juventus’ Cristiano Ronaldo who was the third and Senegalese and Liverpool player Sadio Mane who came at number four.
USA captain Megan Rapinoe was been crowned the 2019 Women's Ballon d'Or winner defeating England's Lucy Bronze and her teammate Alex Morgan.
Ballon d’Or (Golden Ball) is an annual football award presented by France Football that has been awarded since 1956. The award honors the best performing football player in the previous year as voted by Football journalists, team captains and coaches of national teams.
