Kyadondo East legislator Hon. Robert Kyagulanyi also known as Bobi Wine has been honored in the inaugural list of 100 Next Most influential people in the world released by the Time Magazine.

The list includes 100 upcoming celebrities in the world who influence people’s social, political and economic life in the fields of sports, entertainment, fashion, politics, business, science, health and more. The list is part of the Time 100 franchise, which has been releasing lists of most influential people in the whole world for the past 15 years.

Bobi Wine’s inclusion in the list is undoubtedly his political triumphant entry into the parliament, his activism for change and declaration to challenge the incumbent president of Uganda the coming 2021 elections.

“Ugandan pop star Bobi Wine spent his career singing about social injustice. In 2017, he decided to take things a step further by running for, and winning, a seat in parliament. Now the 37-year-old singer, whose real name is Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, has set his sights higher, announcing in July that he will take on President Yoweri Museveni, who has ruled for the past 33 years through a combination of deft politics, questionable election practices and constitutional manipulation” An excerpt from Time’s description on Bobi Wine read.

Bobi Wine who’s currently in North America on fundraising and mobilization campaigns was excited to be included on the list and dedicated the honor to the young people of Uganda especially the ghetto youth.

“I feel very honored to be named amongst the TIME 100 Next- a list of the world's next most influential people and rising stars. I am very delighted to share this recognition with 99 other highly accomplished individuals who are shaping the future of business, entertainment, sports, politics, health, science and activism, and more.” Bobi Wine in a Facebook post

Kenyan film maker Wanuri Kahiu and South Sudanese model Adut Akech are other East Africans that made it to the 2019 list.
