The 3rd edition of the Hisense Chess Tournament has kicked off today at Arirang Hotel & Restaurant, setting the stage for an exciting two-day event filled with strategic moves and youthful enthusiasm.
Organized by Sonko Mathias Allan and sponsored by Hisense, the official partners of UEFA EURO 2024, the tournament promises to be a grand spectacle of talent and competition.
This year's tournament has attracted a large number of under-18 school chess players from across the country, all eager to showcase their skills and compete for an array of prestigious prizes.
The event features five competitive categories based on age groups: U10, U12, U14, U16, and U18, ensuring a level playing field for all participants.

These enticing rewards have spurred on young participants to put their best foot forward and strive for victory since registrations were held from May 15th to July 24th, with an entry fee of UGX 50,000 per participants. This annual event has become a significant highlight on the school chess calendar, drawing more participants each year.
